First, and most importantly, a tremendous and heartfelt Thank You to everyone here and especially Dejoha for writing such an excellent primer for novice hangers such as myself.
Secondly, I thought that the group here might like to hear about hangers in the horse community. When I'm not trying to become a more proficient hanger I write for a few equestrian magazines. I just had a feature piece come out in Trail Blazer Magazine on the topic of lightweight horse camping which is camping without pack stock to carry in all those nice to have extra's.
This type of camping is quite akin to ultra lightweight hiking for a variety of reasons including weight and volume. And as everyone here knows hammocks are wonderfully lightweight and low volume.
Maybe we'll see more back country horse riders swapping out the nostalgic, but heavy and bulky, gear from the 1800's for some sweet hanging.
