    Stuff Sack for JRB Quilt

Okay I need help with this stuff sack. I just received my JRB Mt. Rogers Quilt and stuff sack. The top of the stuff sack has a nylon strap sewed half way around it and two pieces of Velcro. How do I close this thing up? With the quilt stuffed the Velcro alone doesn't hold it closed and what do you do with the strap?

With that out of the way, oh this quilt is so sweet. I'm never getting out of bed again. I can't wait to try it in my HH.

I'm pretty sure that's one of their compression sacks - I just 'came into' one myself this past weekend

Looks like the strap and velcro are part of a rolled closure like on a dry bag you'd use for a water trip.

Put the quilt into the bag, close the velcro, then push the quilt down so it's compressed a bit. Roll the top of the bag down. Wrap the nylon strap around the bottom of the bag, between the bag and the flap. Fasten the strap thru the buckles and cinch it tight. You can get a really good compression if you pull the buckles tight, then recenter the strap and pull again.

close the velcro on themselves....then run the strap down one side of the bag, underneath and back up the other side and through the plastic loops...run the strap through the loops back torwards the bottom and cinch it closed...it a compression strap. bd

Thanks guys, much clearer. I'm not a smart man.

Actually I sorta tried it that way but thought I was doing something wrong.
So it its ok to squash it down that much.

Squash away. As long as you dont store it that way at home when youre off the trail, you will be fine. Sorry about the double post earlier from me and Jeff. Looks like he beat me to the punch. BD

Neo's the only person I've ever heard complain about JRB or Hennessy gear falling apart. Neo, I wonder if you use your gear differently than others.
