Talk me into buying a tadpole.

Noob here and I'm looking for a tarp for my GT Ultralight. I was really considering a MacCat standard or deluxe until I found about the Tadpole. It's lighter (barely) and seems to offer similar coverage as the MacCat. I also haven't ruled out the BigDaddy at this point since it's $5 more and the biggest negative is the added weight..

I'm trying to save weight but my biggest fear is that I will get wet in a thunderstorm. Will the tadpole offer adequate coverage to keep me dry? What are your thoughts on the tarp's durability and versatility? Thanks.

I can't speak for the tadpole, though I know a lot of people here have them. I can tell you I have been through a few thunderstorms and one hail storm with my big daddy. I have yet to get wet. I think you will also be pleased with Wilderness Logics craftsmanship and service. I'm also pretty sure if you hung a tadpole close to your hammock you would be good in a thunderstorm. Hopefully someone who owns one will chime in.

Believe me you won't be disappointed on the Tadpole. I have one and have enjoyed it very much. Was in the Bitterroots last year in a downpore that lasted hours and I stayed dry. Supper light. I have it snakeskins.. Great rain fly.

    +1

I really like the tadpole, packs away to next to nothing, and I find it gives pretty decent coverage on my 10ft hammock.

    Cheers

I don't have a Tadpole but have other product. Great product, great customer service and great pricing - what is not able to sell you ?!!

Nothing really, other than my own indecision.

Comparing it to other tarps I think it's a good buy. Midrange coverage and very low weight. I don't think it can be beat. I'm going to place an order tonight when I get home.

Now I have to decide which color!
