Spoke with a Park Services Specialist today at Florida Caverns State Park and she was very excited about the pilot program. She's planning on stopping by for a lesson and pictures later today.

Question Hanging at Torreya State Park?

Has anyone heard what is happening at Torreya with this? I could call and ask, but I would rather get the lay of the land before I begin speaking to the rangers (I have a tendency to open my mouth and insert my foot ).

Looking forward to hanging at Torreya very soon....

I've filled in three surveys so far, another one at the end of Sept when I hang in O'Leno State Park.

Smile Moving in the right direction

I made a reservation at Torreya State Park for one of the backcountry sites. As with other times, the first words out of the Ranger's mouth were "No hammocks." I did not challenger her, but instead made the reservation and per the first post in this thread, contacted Mr. Madden at DEP.

I was anxious for a reply, which he did in only 25 minutes, reassuring that the "Pilot Program" was still in effect. He asked for more information from me and was very supportive. I replied immediately, even offering to show the park staff the setup I have, and was willing to change my reservation to any of the backcountry sites (all of which have appropriate hanging trees).

His last reply was that he would be in touch by the end of the week. I am confident that, given his tone, this will soon be resolved.

Thank you, samsara, for taking the time to see this through and making it happen!

Eh, I didn't do much more than nudge into action something that was already going to happen. In the end the real thanks goes out to DEP and the people like you that are the first hangers that a park has and you educate them on how great we hangers really are
