Tarp tensioning, line-loks and reflective cord..

I have been using plastic figure 9's with some cheap reflective cord to tension my tarps. I am tired of the daily re-tensioning and the lack of any give.

Has anyone used the Shane method with line-loks and some type of non-stretch reflective cord? Like Exped 2.2mm Dyneema? Tripping in my camp is far too common to go to zing-it.

Any other options? Easy to use, reflective, holds tight in storms?

    Thanks...!

I haven't had a chance to get out and hang it yet, hopefully this weekend. But what I'm using is some shock cord and 3M reflective line from Supply Captain to make self tensioning lines. Then I'm going to use an Icicle Hitch for adjustments.

1.75 Zing-It, Option 1 (with sewn grossgrain cover over the shock cord), glow mini loks and a glow skele-skull bead on the mini lok loop. Installed on McCat Spinn Deluxe. Gives glowing reference dots at stake and about half way up the line. Works great!

I have stitched Line Loc 3's to the corner D-rings on my HG4S. I used a 8" piece of 1/2" elastic, loopped through line loc, then the double layer looped through the Dring and stitch back onto itself. I'm left with an elastic s
ection about 2" long and 4 layers thick between my D ring & my lineloc. The result is a very forgiving set of guylines. While the elastic isn't really necessary with cuben it does seem to give just enough flex to relieve stress from minor bumps & hang-ups.

I use Lawson's Glowire with the Line Loc 3's and have not noticed any slipping, yet. I haven't had this arrangement in any strong direct winds, yet.

    Line loks and reflective cord

I sewed some loops of elastic ribbon and attached them to the line locks from the D rings of my tarps. Used reflective line for my guy lines. I can tighten them, if need be, from under the tarp in the rain. So far they have held up well in both windy and rainy conditions. I only used one layer and had thought I could double or triple layer the ribbon for added strength/tension but so far it works ok with one layer.

I have been using kelty triptease for years, but will be trying Hawk-Eye's Dog Bone self-tensioner w/ shock cord next trip out.

I have used a marlin spike hitch on my tent peg with Keltytriptease. Holds tight. Easy to adjust. No sewing or extra hardware. Works for me.
