    Any good trails in NC?

Does anyone know of any good (preferably long) trails close to the capital?

    thanks

The only "long" trails in the area are the MST and ATT. The ATT does not allow camping but it is only 22 miles, so doable in a day for someone in shape. The MST only allows camping at designated camp grouds in the State Parks in the area. Let me know if you want to do a overnight/weekend trip on the MST I may be available to help out.

Also for shorter trails I like Eno River for day hiking, can do anything from 1 to 10 miles out there. Same goes for Umstead.

I'll second the Mountains to Sea Trail. There are roughly 60 miles of trail in the Triangle now without resorting to road walking. If you just want to hike, not camp, the greenway system is great. Check out Joe Miller's website: http://getgoingnc.com/2012/04/a-gree...cted-triangle/

Not many trails near Raleigh, but if you head to Western North Carolina there are a bazillion!

My favorite trail in NC (so far) is the BMT in the GSMNP. Incredible variety, lots of history, plenty of water for bathing, and the fishing aint bad either. And if I can figure out how to trap one, I would love to have a little roast suckling pig for supper!

Uwharrie National Forest has nice trails near the Triangle:
The Uwharrie Trail is a rarity in Piedmont hiking for its length of more than 20 miles
