That depends on how wide you decide to make the hem/channel. Just experiment folding a piece of paper like a hem/channel and see how wide of a seam allowance you need to add to the finished length.

Have fun with that. Those little black paper clip things can be your friend.

Looks nice! Not a huge thing but it looks like your lines are a little tighter than 30*. That puts more stress on your system. Can't say I get it right all the time either, just something to keep in mind.

Thanks! It was a day off for me, so I spent quite a while hanging. I took it down and set it up a few times throughout the day to get used to it. I bought The Ultimate Hang and spent some time reading in the hammock. My later hangs in the day were closer to 30 degrees...or at least they were steeper than the first hang. Anyway, I love this thing!

I'm going to look at adding a stretch-side modification in the future. It was definitely comfortable to hang in, but I could imagine that a stretch side would be good, especially as I add a top quilt in the future. I'll do some research and see what it would look like to add that on. My hems were done with the hammock inside out, so that way they are hidden. I guess I could turn it inside out again to try and add bungee cord. Anyway, I'll look into that soon.

Next step: bug net and tarp.

Does anyone have a good suggestion for either? I'm not looking to go ultralight.

Going by your photos, I don't think you will gain anything by adding the stretch-side mod. All it does is take up extra floppy fabric and it doesn't look like there is any. However if you put stretch-side mods at your head and foot, you might find the scrunched up fabric irritating if it rubs against you. On a wider hammock the mod will be well above where it can touch you.

If it's not broken, don't fix it.

Very nice job! I would consider the stretch side mod on the foot end. It will help your quilt stay put.

The fronkey style bug net is very popular. I like mine sewn on, but that is much harder....
