I’m fairly new to this. A few years ago (just before COVID, I was traveling through New Mexico. I stopped at a commercial campground. (KOA Roswell, I *think,* but am not sure.)
After I had paid, I said, “I just want to hang my hammock and get some sleep!”
”Oh, no, you can’t use a hammock here! You’ll damage our trees!”
Okay. Fine.
Since then, I have wanted a soloution that would allow me to hammock-camp anywhere I could put a tent.
I saw the “turtledog “ stuff, & thought that looked really interesting.
I’m not much of a tools guy, though. How can I do this?
I’ll try to attach pics of what I have so far.

This is only a few feet apart, but I’m getting somewhere.
It’s 54 inches high.
Can anyone help me understand how long a rail or pole I need, how I can make it so it will go in the car, and what it needs to be made of? I have zero idea on strength. I though of pipe, rod (aluminum?), and wood dowel, but I’m really uncertain about any of this.
any comments or suggestions would be welcome!
