    Weight:
One tripod built to Happy's plans using untreated pine 2X2s and a S hook weights 7.6 lbs. - two tripods of untreated pine 2X2s = 15.2 lbs. plus the weight of the ridge pole.
    Treated wood would weigh more.
P.S. My ridge pole is a maple branch, so I can't help with a total weight.

Interesting, I would have bet more. I think I did bet more...

But all mine are treated. And one treated piece can weight a lot more than the next too, for that matter.

    Thanks for weighing yours!

Im willing to be its a few pounds heavier with a metal ridge pole vs a branch. Those fence ridge poles weigh a fair amount.

    Re: The TurtleDog stand

Has anyone tried two 6 foot 2x2s or dowels ridge pole with a 6 foot pvc joiner in the middle? Would that be lighter or not strong enough?

7.6 lbs. is for just one tripod of untreated pine 2X2, 5" hinge and nuts/bolts/washers/S hook - no ridge pole was included in this weight.

I was going to do that yesterday, but then I thought why would I spend any money when I have 50 pounds of 16p nails at home?

I'll just bend the next one over so it can't fall out. Tried and true redneck cotter pin.
