I will try to add a photo when I can get some techy help for that tomorrow.

Now I'm really looking forward to seeing this!

BTW, I wasn't trying to cause trouble messing with "the list".
    Well, maybe a little.

    Cheers!

If you can press fit an all thread connector instead of a nut into the conduit, the increased length will provide a much more stable connection for ridgepole joints. I'm not sure this can be done without specialized tooling, but thought I'd bring it to your attention.

Has anyone else encountered problems with this skewing and made modifications to set the alignment or stop the pivoting of the rectangular part of the hinge?

    Enjoy. Turtlelady
TL, I think adding rubber feet and snugging up the bolts on your hinges should fix this. I keep mine snug enough that they will move, but there is ample friction to keep them where I put them. The rubber feet make all the difference on slick surfaces.

Hppyfngy: Thank you. Tightening the bolts won't do the trick in this case. But, yes, you are spot on. Duh! We drilled the holes too big!

Now to decide whether to redrill or leave that as is and put in a movement limiting fix external to the hinge. Gosh, you mean I have to fiddle and tweak my setup again?

Some big old fender washers should spread the friction over the 2x regardless of how big the holes are. Well, to a point anyway...

Yes, more fiddling and tweaking. So sad...

I've had a very busy couple of weeks but nonetheless, my turtledog stand is complete! It was made just in time for my tent camper's maiden voyage. Staying for 10 days at a local campground which I knew in advance had no trees on my site . I missed my hammock lately & knew I had to do something about it!

I went with the angled 2x2 route along with some 3/8" eyebolts, 1 3/8" toprail and a 4" hinge. I also added some varnish to assist in the weathering ability and a paracord setup for stability and tarp support. This independence day week is anything but partying w/ some awful weather but I did just slip in a nap . The whole setup holds me(160lb) and my gf(120lb).

I found some 1 1/4" rubber chair feet to slip around the ends of the toprail which helps protect the wood AND the camper during transportation.

I just need to do some research on tarps...as I'm really sick of bringing the hammock out every time the sun peaks through.

    Well, at last...

The new camper AND my turtledog stand
Fyi, my gf in the background figured out how to tie some taughtline knots & prettied up my paracord setup lol

    Hope you enjoy!

You're right. I failed miserably in my attempt to segment with the regular nuts, so I gave up.

Archy88, your camper looks about the same size as your hammock now!
