TD S/N 173 made it through the summer - lots of use.
These photos are of my 1992ish American Camper cotton rope hammock ($12 new). Very comfortable. I also use my TD with a Hennessey and a DIY gathered end hammock. What a nice stand - thanks again guys for sharing your evolution of the Turtle Lady stand.

    Re: The TurtleDog stand

Our camping trip got rained out in VT so we came home and made our very own turtle dog stand. We think our neighbors must think we're nuts.. we were sawing, drilling, etc all afternoon. What a fun project. Going to make a 2nd one tomorrow. We tested out his Yukon (Dangerbird on the way) and my WBBB- both fit well, and our Superfly tarps had a little extra room on each side.

Wow, good on y'all for having the dedication to cut everything manually!

    Awesome!

Keep the neighbors nervous, I always say.

I hope you'll get something like a quick link or shackle to go between the amsteel and the hinge though... Or maybe you've eased the edges of the holes in the hinge...

Either way, very nice work! Enjoy!

It's just that running your amsteel directly through the holes in the hinge will stress the amsteel because the hinge has squared off edges.

It's just better, IMHO, to have something with rounded edges in between the hard edged hinge and the cordage.

    Like this:

Maybe it would never be a problem for you! Right angles in metal can be hard on cordage though and I wouldn't want your amsteel to abrade over those potentially sharp-ish corners in the hinge. Hammocks move around. Abrasion happens...

(or maybe if you have a file you can ease the potentially sharp edges in the hinge...)

And I'm too darned cautious, but also don't want you to fall!

    Re: The TurtleDog stand

Got it! Thanks for the heads up. I will get a carabiner to fix the problem.

That is good advice about having a smooth edge against the amsteel rather than hard, square edge. Also, I love how you have the whoopie slings pulled through and connected in the middle of your setup Hppyfngy
