I have to agree, use a spread limiter line around the bottom. The wider the legs are spread, the more this will be needed. The angled top of a leg is short and the rest of the leg makes a very long lever. Adding to this would be the disks skis you are planning on.
Saw something cool this weekend at a local Scout District camping event.. I had my hammock hung between two very large fence posts.. there was another troop out there that had hammocks hung using TurtleDog stands. Thought it was a great showing of hammock camping filtering into Scouting.
Great job on those stands also... they looked great

I know I'm late with these pictures! My apologies.
The double hang worked great, actually. No extra creaking or groaning from the stand at all. Here are some shots we took prior to tarping so you could see what we did. The only downside was the additional swoop my hammock ended up with as a result of the lower hanging position combined with the length of the top rail. If I could go to a longer top rail that problem might be avoided somewhat.
