I don't know anything about testing but my friend was using them on his and only used it once and ended up on the ground this past Monday. The end stayed on but the cup shattered. Those are made of cast aluminum. Given my current resistance to levitation I'll not be using them on mine.

The pole most are using is a 10' section of chain link fence top rail. It has one straight end and one swaged end.

By cutting the pole in half, and reversing the swaged end toward the center, they then fit, one inside the other, very nicely.

Peanuts, we need pictures so someone can help you get it right. Mine has been used every night for a year and I know there are people that have been hanging on theirs longer than that.

Congrats on your TDS, Peanuts. Can't wait to see the pics and I hope you get it all straightened out (pun intended, hehe).

Caused by a weak hinge - not beefy enough. A couple wood screws in the holes near the hinge point should pull it back to the right spot.
As far as leg alignment, you may have to loosen up the bolts a little then just move the legs until they are aligned right (if you used one bolt per long leg they will move for alignment).

    Yep, you nailed it!

I had the same problem on the original stand when I was manhandling it a bit too much. A little care when setting up and it hasn't been a problem since (with no changes/mods to it). Just treat it gently and it'll be fine.
