Yep, that's just the way she works. No worries.

The beauty of it is when it's loaded with your weight, the joint is being forced together. Believe me, it's not going anywhere. And that "relatively loose" fitting makes it easy to assemble and disassemble.

    Looks like you have it!

(a few have gone so far as to drill through and put in a pin at the joint, but I find it completely unnecessary. )

If you go to England, careful how you announce that.

I just made a Turtledog stand yesterday, works great. I ended up using 2"x2" and a hinge. I had some old 5mm cordage lying around (not safe for climbing anymore) and a couple of biners.

Anywho i was wondering if anyone has a solution to the legs walking inward. The space in my living room wont allow for the legs to walk out. So i havent lashed them inward, but how to i keep them out. I noticed last night as i got in and out a couple time that as my balance shifted the tripods they would walk in a bit.

    Any thoughts?

(heres a couple photos of the stand in my apartment and the suspension hook up)

It's hard to tell from the photo, but the spread of the legs might be a bit narrow for their height which I think would make the walking legs more likely, so try increasing the spread if possible.

Other than lashing rods across the bottom to maintain the spread (or nailing the legs to the floor), learning to hold the far side of that WBRR as you get in and out and not let it move back too far will help.

Hanging from trees, I can walk back to raise my height when getting out, but that doesn't work well with a tripod stand.

I havent measured the spread yet, but they are about as far out as i can make room for in my apartment, about 2.5ft between each leg. i did notice that the less i moved getting in the better, but its the back and forth motion that does it not so much the side to side. And ya the WBRR barely fits in the stand. I did get a 10ft top pole, but i think 12ft pole would be better.

Maybe i should just move, find a better apartment to hang my hammock in.

I was thinking about adding cross bars at the bottom, but didnt know if there was another solution. I cant nail it down, I live in a basement apartment and im pretty sure it would just be concrete under my carpet.

Yeah, if you only have 2.5'-3' spread, that's the problem. I'd lash on some spreader rods just for safety while using it indoors. It won't take much.

Rig a spreader up at the hinge area. The single leg moving toward the double legs is the only place it can move. Wouldn't take much up top to prevent the legs from "folding up".
