Yes. Blame it on the stand.

Prior to TD - one project per winter. Set-up on nice day, experiment, take down.
With TD - set-up in spare room and any spare time becomes mad science time.
    Project 1 - $35 sock, Project 2 - $100 UQ, Project 3 - $5 HUG bug net, Project 4 - $38 UQP, Project 5 - $0 Shug style breath catcher, Project 6 - $30 tarp pole mod. That's $208 this winter in hidden cost of owning a TD stand.
That's right folks, prior to the TD I was happy with adding one item per year to improve my hammock, tarp and CCF pad system. Now I have a closet full of DIY items for all weather conditions possible south of the Mason Dixon line. Spring is here - so I'm done for this year.
Now to save up for next winter's project - DIY winter tarps.
    Sorry about that

Me? I'm old enough I don't apologize for much of anything. Samsara may need to apologize for even starting this thread. 1967 posts, that's ridiculous but it has been a fun ride.

    Number 2

Made myself another stand, this time using 1.6 m long by 26mm outer diameter, 3mm wall thickness aluminium poles. I only had one spare aluminium pole left over so until i can get my hands on another I'm still using the ridge pole from my original timber stand, which is made from galvanised steel poles and is fairly heavy. Other than that this new stand feels fairly sturdy and is very light.
The tripods are made using the method from this thread https://www.hammockforums.net/forum/...ad.php?t=68683

My spread limiters are made from cordage running through metal saddles which are riveted to the legs. I plan on making gear shelves to attach to the limiting cords.

As they say, pics or it didn't happen...

These are pics of the maiden hang. I will be shortening the eye bolts on the ridge pole and will be using thick, flanged nylon washers on the nut side to protect the amsteel loop attaching the ridge pole to the tripods.

Oh, and the hammock is a no sew whipped end made from auscam material. Very, very comfy. I may or may not have accidentally fallen asleep for an hour or so during testing this afternoon. I guess that counts as a pass.

    Enjoy

Relay, looks nice. When you say very light, how much does one of those poles weigh? I made my first stand like this using wood closet rods. But I am still looking for lighter. My stand is lighter than the aluminum one's in your link. But I am also trying to find a way to make it break down smaller for portability. Many scout trips in open fields.
