Definitely no need to take it apart. The lashing lasts a long time. I like to use rope (nylon) that stretches a bit and pull it tight as I lash.

I really overpaid for my first set by not using the right searches, but it was worth the hit to check these out.

Tell me about it - I used the same source as you and got almost twice as many poles

Just trying to gauge how quick this setup is. I really like it esp now that cheaper sources emerge. I'm still not too exited about the weight but something that fits in the trunk of a car is pretty attractive.

And at these new improved prices it's really in line with the wooden stands...
As long as your lashings are tight you shouldn't have to re-lash it. When I did mine I did twice the amount of lashing as the person did in the photo above.

To speed in the setup I have my poles color coded with colored electrical tape (one stripe of color for one side and two for the other).

???What did you do to necessitate color coding? All the poles in my set up are interchangeable.

I marked them because I did not measure the holes for the snap buttons exactly the same. So it just makes it easier to make sure that they will line up properly.

Hmmm.... another thought... when you are finished using them ............ the going price of scrap aluminum is usually a bit higher than than the price of scrap 2 by's But I'll probably pass these on to my grand kids, and them to theirs.. positively heirlooms!

And also, you may be replacing the wooden stands long before the aluminum stands... he he heeeee

Gosh, I never thought I would want one of these, now I am building one!
Could I be addicted to hammocking???
