" the Dude abides "
cole that looks really cool
Out of town for a week but after a red eye flight home Mon, picked up a 10' 1.5" EMT on the way home from the airport. Worked great. Yes, I will post picture (when I figure out how to do that).
You can add another name to the list! I was poking around on this forum for quite some time, and as soon as I saw the TurtleDog stand, I knew I had to make one.
For my ENO Doublenest (my first hammock), I wanted to make sure the stand could easily support two people. I ended up using 2x4's, 10" gate hinges with appropriately sized bolts, nuts, and washers, and a total of 13' of galvanized chain link top rail. I originally had the top rail at 14' but it was simply too long when I brought it into my apt living room .
Side note: I like the 10" gate hinges because I was able to attach the shackles in the available hole which was perfectly centered (opposed to off to one side).
I can post pictures if anyone is interested.
The question was posed by old4hats about the number of turtledog stands that had been built. Went back and reviewed a few threads, the Turtlelady stand, the TurtleDog stand and a thread by domromer. Here is what I was able to find and assume that there may be others.

Most of us end up poorer here but richer for being here. Olddog, Fulltime hammocker, 365 nights a year.
Count me in on the Turtledog stand. I built mine last weekend. I plan on rebuilding it now that I know where I went wrong. But I do have to say, no more ground dwelling when I go car camping with the scouts.
Comfort will be maintained.
