I want to sew a carrying bag for them. Can some suggest a durable fabric to use? And where I would buy it..?

We got new uniforms at work so I'm planning on cutting up and using my old uniform shirts for mine. I would just go down to Walmart or Joanne's or someplace that sells fabric. Look around at what they have for some fairly stout cloth that is in the price range you are willing to spend and buy a couple of yards. If you buy two yards and use the cloth on the diagonal then you should have plenty for your six foot pieces.

That's just what I would do

Cole, did you larks head the pipe rope onto the hinge? I can't tell if there is a shackle there or not. If you did larks head to the hinge, I would suggest getting a shackle for both ends or check for abrasion frequently. If you don't have a shackle, PM me an addy and I'll send you a couple.

You definitely need something. I got a nice little stainless shackle at Lowes for about $3.50 each. Rated to about 900 pounds each.

Just a few ideas. I angled the ends of mine, as olddog pointed out. This way they can't spread any more than the angle allows and I don't need spread limiters. Then I added rubber feet to protect my floor, and to eliminate slippage on slick surfaces. I run whoopies through the shackle attached to the end caps and join them in the middle with a carabiner.

I recently bought some 500D Cordura from this ebay seller.

It's really nice stuff. A little heavy but not like 1000D. They sell by the yard and are pretty darned reasonable. This is my only experience with them but I've heard others say they were good too.

They have some canvas colors and some camo too. Took a week to get it, but it was worth it for my project.
