Ok, You can officially put me on the "Build List". I made some modifications to my original failed attempt and come up with something very workable and stable. I left the PVC Sleeve on just for piece of mind after the first failure. I dont believe that I would need it though. The key was to move the suspension attaching points in direct line with the suspension of the top rail. Thanks to all, what a great forum this is.

One thing I am watching is my ridge line. It is made from "Zing-It" and at the angle of the hang in the stand - wooooweeee is it tight, not sure what to do about that. I did make the ridge line adjustable, I am going to play with diff lengths and see how that works.

Your angle seems a bit flat to me though. Closer to 25*. Maybe try letting your suspension out a little to get closer to 30*. This will also loosen your ridge line.

yup increasing the hang angle def does help but gets my butt a little close to the ground. I may end up using longer 2x2's so I can change the hang angle.

Quick! Get out the 2x lengthener.

It's true, the longer the ridge pole, the taller the tripods need to be to keep your butt off the ground.

I have noticed after making a few of these that the stands need to be between 5'-6' tall if you want to give your hammock a nice hang angle. Otherwise you may end up touching the ground.
