They'er a bit over 2 lbs each.
Don't forget to secure the joints so things don't fall apart while you fiddle with it or move it. I originally used gaffer's tape until Mustardman showed us the way with these Snap Buttons.

Great idea, those snap buttons
How are some ways to lash these aluminum poles together at the top of the tripod??
The TD stand uses a hinge when using wood for structure, but I don't want to do that to these round poles
There must be a way do do a search for everything relevant, but when I try to search here it only uses one of my words to search for. How would I search on the forum for: aluminum hammock stand
Thanks for all you help

This is how I do my bamboo tripods.
Paracord works great.

Lashing is agreat solution, especially if you want to break the stand down completely for travel. If you want to try a hardware solution, scroll back to post #535 and #568. I use round poles as well (wood). This solution is a permanent solution (like the hinge). I made mine 2 months ago and already have about a dozen nights on it. It is set up in my office at the moment. I've had no problems at all. It has held my #225 self and even my son and his girlfriend together in the ENO DN. i also have more details in the Bamboo Turtlelady stand thread. Currently I have a continuous loop of AmSteel hanging directly from the hardware to suspend the horizontal bar.

Yep, lash them like in hppyfngy's link...on the connecting pins so the lashing can't slip down.

Lashing is the original way that turtlelady started this style stand for all of us.

With all these cheaper sources for the poles people are finding, I'm thinking you could build a MustardDog stand for about half as much as I paid for the materials for mine...
D'oh!
Good to see that you leave the lashing intact for transport. Does that work for multiple hangs or do you have to re-lash now and then?
Just trying to gauge how quick this setup is. I really like it esp now that cheaper sources emerge. I'm still not too exited about the weight but something that fits in the trunk of a car is pretty attractive.
And at these new improved prices it's really in line with the wooden stands...
