Ok I want to make one of these but have a couple of questions. I have a 10' hammock I got from Dutch and only have a little over 12' from wall to wall to setup one of these. Now the questions what is the minimum I have to open the legs of the tripod to keep it from fall over and can I slide the tripods in more on the ridge pole so they fit in the space needed to hang the hammock. Oops another question do I need some sort of underquilt like a pluq I think it is called? Thanks in advanced
Why do you need the metal pipe to span the two tripods? Couldn't the hammock be suspended directly from the tripod?
I will have to try to figure out the physics behind it, but I guess that even pointing the odd leg in instead of out the tripod would have to be much larger to not tip. Wondering if there is a way to make it lighter.
1. Use an anchor to the outside, but that would take up more space.
2. With that third leg pointing to the outside, hang the hammock from that leg instead of the center.
I am sure that people have already tried several variations and that this is a great setup....just can't help but think it through though.
