    Yet Another Idea

This looks interesting for a smaller portable stand made from PVC. What to do you think? I might give it a try.

I made one of these setups using solid metal pipe instead of PVC. I didn't like the way his was flexing in the video. I still need to try it out, but I'm tempted to scrap the whole thing, and go turtledog.

So...i think this is definitely a good option. Would 1.5"x1.5" tubing like this work?

I'm assuming 1.5" is the outer dimension, so the 2x2s (1.5x1.5s, actually) would have to be shaved down a little to slip fit.

The channel could be botled to one leg, and the other could slip in and have a pin or a hand-tightening bolt. 12" of channel should be more than enough, each section slipping into ~6" of the channel. Would need 72" total.

All that sounds better than hinges and latches...

Just noticed that there is LOTS of square tubing on Amazon and if you have Prime you can get free shipping!

Here is a link to 6061, but the some of the reviews say sometimes 6063 is shipped instead of what you order. YMMV

Amazon usually makes good on Prime orders, including they pay for return shipping. So far they have for me anyway.

I hope I'm wrong but I have a feeling this is going to be problematic. To get this to work well you need a snug fit and well, wood shrinks and twists and also swells when it gets wet or even damp.

But you guys keep going! Lots of people waiting to see how it goes.

I've been contemplating ordering the same tubing, but from Metals Online. They are local so I could pick it up instead of shipping it. At least there I know I'd be getting what I ordered.

    I guess but one 6' section @ $20 vs 6 @ $20...

And a lot more work to assemble IMO
