    DIY Down Underquilt Questions

    Hi all,

First off wanted to introduce myself to Hammock Forums. I'm a newbie here and am already overwhelmed by the amount of great information on this site!

Really interested in building a down underquilt for my setup. I've read much of the information in the DIY forums here on HF and I must say there is A LOT!

Anyway I was curious if anyone had actually put up plans for the UQ's they've made? I've searched through the forums but hadnt really seen any plans per se for constructing etc. Since (like all of us) I'm trying to save money by doing a DIY UQ, I was hoping to find plans of somesort to help eliminate any mistakes and wasted money.

If anyone knows of any plans lurking out there please give me a shout! Until then, i'll keep trolling the forums looking for some. It looks like many of you have created very very nice UQ's, hoping a few of you were generous enough to put them out there for the public! P.s.I'm open to buying plans as well if they exist.

Thanks again for all the awesome info and community support!

    Cheers,

P.S. Apologies if this topic has already been addressed elsewhere. I havent made it through all of the DIY threads yet, and I understand it can be frustrating when people ask the same questions over and over. ha.

Here's one description of a DIY underquilt project. It features a shaped quilt to fit the hammock, which keeps the weight down. I've used a similar method. It can be complicated and time-consuming, but may be worth it.

You can also use a simpler rectangular quilt, such as a Jacks-R-Better "No Sniveller" with bungees for suspension. I was surprised at how well this works, but getting the suspension right may take some tweaking.

By the way, welcome to HF. Your questions are welcome, too.

Thanks for the reply David. I'll certainly check both of these out!
