suprise 3 day weekend western slope co

I work at the local hospital and they have cut my hours this week because of low census so now I have a 3 day weekend and a new pack to try out. I offered a 35 l golite while they were on sale. Now I just need to figure out where to go. I live in Montrose Co. Any ideas

Tough call - I know a lot of the parks are opening up for camping finally this weekend. I had a coworker head up to Montrose last weekend to visit a remote office we have up there and he was saying there is still a lot of snow and mud out through Red MTN pass (Ouray and Silverton).
