While I like how lite weight Whoopies are, I find that they limited my hanging in that I have to work harder to adjust everything (tree straps and Whoopies). Went back to straps and buckles as I could set up my hammock in less time, less hassel.
Just glad we have lots of choices
I am still 18 but with 52 years of experience !
The Whoopies that came on my Snipe hammock are my first experience with them. I'm still having a hell of a time trying to loosen them off once there's weight from the hammock on them. If I have to adjust them, I find it easier and faster to remove them from the tree strap, adjust the whoopies length then reconnect it to the strap, which when trying to center the hammock and adjust the height of the head and foot ends can take several tries during setup. Yes, they're lighter and less bulky to pack, but so far, for me, not as easy or quick to adjust as the strap and buckle system.
I had the same problem with Whoopies. I read about UCR's, saw a video by Sgt Rock on them, and then saw a thread on how to make them. They use less cord, and for me are easier to adjust and take down.
Here's a link on how to make them. https://www.hammockforums.net/forum/...ad.php?t=66163
I made my 1st pair out of a pair of Whoopies.

Well I am a backpacker, and I use buckles and webbing. I compared my whoopie suspension to my webbing and buckle suspension. The weight savings is so minor that I stuck with the webbing and buckle. If I needed to get my base pack weight down below 15lbs then I would swap out. But as long as my base pack weight is < 20lbs, im happy. Besides if I wanted to get my base weight down to <15lbs then I would be doing some major changes to my setup anyway. Not just suspension but hammock and tarps.
