I switched to whoopie slings and tree straps simply because of sap and rain. Now I can easily separate my WBBB from my suspension and pack everything in their own bag. The hammock and quilts go into a dry bag in the bottom of my backpack while the suspension go into a ziplock bag in an outside pocket. I find the weight savings to be insignificant even when using Dutch's whoopie hooks - my larger tree straps do contribute to this but I seem to have larger trees where I hike and all are pine.

    Cheers

I hope that once the whoopies get some use to them that they may loosen up a bit and make adjustments easier.

What hammock set up did you go with on your new rig???

Whoopies and sinch straps look nice, but question for those who have tried both (as I am looking to pick up one or the other) - here in rainy Washington, would the whoopies be an improvement over the straps as far as absorbing water that may run down the line into the hammock? Or should there be no real difference?
