Yeah i'd say it was most definately the ENO straps. They are notoriously stretchy. They are called slap straps but have gained the nickname crap straps, for that very reason. Strapworks.com has the simple sling in polypro. Give them a look.

I've checked out the straps my buddy gave me. They say "Redback 2500#" on them and can't find any definitive info on them but they appear to be polyester? Closest thing I can find are arbor ties.
