    hammock issues

I bought and installed the Whoppie sling system on my skeeter beeter pro.

the last time I went out, I hung the hammock, and I had to have the suspenion basically as tight as possible so that I would not be laying on the ground we I get in the hammock.

I am trying to figure out what I have done wrong. I was using trees about 10 ft apart.

If anyone can help me try to find out what I am doing wrong, I would greatly appreciate it.

also If anyone would like to go out this weekend in the indiana area, and would like to help me out. let me know.

    Thanks!

Pics might help diagnose the problem. My initial impression is that your tree straps are too low on the tree.

10 feet sounds a little close to me. I would try more like 15 feet and a little above head height.

10 ft. Is definitely too close together, especially with whoopies. Go at least 12-15 ft. As you get wider, your straps will most likely have to get higher.
If I were closer I would be glad to help you, hopefully this helps, let us know how it turns out!

my buddy weights 140lbs and his skeeter beeter pro put him down on the ground by morning. it was setup with whoopies and polyester straps.

was good when he went to bed, and setup just like my wbbb--- 30* angle
and all that, blah blah blah.....

i dunno... he doesn't use it anymore.

I would try between 12 and 15 feet for a good hang. Check out my post on hanging a hammock.

I also just published an interactive hammock hang calculator for the iPhone, which can also help with measurement issues.

More than likely the woopies were tied into the hammock wrong and they did the slow crawl loose on him. I had that happen the first time I set mine up in the backyard and slept in it.

After that I used two continuous Amsteel loops larks headed through the hammock connected to a Ti ring with the woopies double knotted into the ring.

    That fixed two problems:
    1.) the knots never slip
2.) I added a ridgeline to the loops to keep the hammock at 'my' perfect sleep angle
3.) reduces my stupidity in the field

Make sure that your trees are at least 12' apart. Make sure that the straps are coming down at 30*. Too much tension makes it tippy & uncomfortable.
