    Zip/Velcro

newbie here. Not to hammocks in general, just to new to not having a michelada and a plate of garlic shrimp next to me on the beach in one!

Going to be ordering a backpackers I guess. Fretting over whether to get a zip or velco entrance. I'm leaning towards the zip .... hmmm Why don't they offer both?! I heard that adding a zip can mess with the (don't know the real word) eveness of the hammock...

A friend of mine is starting a ride from Bogata to Tierra de Fuego soon and has a zip entrance. He likes it, though is also having doubts if he made the right choice.

    what're your opinions?

You can have both. Have a velcro model shipped to us, and we can put the zipper in for you. Check out our site below. Adding the zipper doesn't create any problems with the hang of the hammock. ZQ

Well, I personally like a zip entrance but you could always buy a bottom entrance and then send it over to http://www.2qzqhammockhanger.com/page18.html and have them add a zipper. I wouldn't wanna be stuck with just the bottom entrance but that's me. As far as I know, having both a bottom entrance and zip entry does not effect the lay (that's the real word )of the hammock. There are a few people here with both and I haven't heard of that being a problem.

Looks like ZQ beat me to it!

    Go with the Zip (IMO)

I have the Zip Exp. My son has the bottom entry (velcro) HH Exp. I love the zip entry for ease in and out. My son like the velcro, but I think it's because it is different.
Just my two cents, but go zip and you never have to worry about it again.
    Love my HH!

I shouldda mentioned that I live in Mexico. bleedin ironic right? Ordering a hammock from canada. ha. So shipping it back and getting bits added aint an option as that will mean 3 UPS delivery costs... about $300.

because of costs of being here and shipping from US/Can... I want to save as much as possible. Is the foam pad offered by HH good?

i've used both, go with the zip, much more versatile and lots easier to use with your insulation system if you have one

lots of people add a zipper mod to their bottom entry hennessy, never heard of anyone adding a velco bottom entry to a zip tho

After much thought I think I'll go with the zip. A great vid on youtube convinced me I'd be stupid to go with anything other. Cheers for the advice guys
