What about a setup like below. This would utilize the mini-spreader bar as both a spreader and a toggle of sorts. I would think this would take the hard angled force off the cord running through the holes in the spreader bar, especially if you drilled at an angle. And I was thinking that the cord that goes through the channel in the hammock could be two soft shackles locked into one another and it would make the system modular to any channel hammock.
I have a carbon fiber arrow shaft to experiment with on my hiking hammock. With a 5/16" OD and 1/32" wall thickness I'm leary about drilling the shaft. Thoughts now are
1.to form ridges on the outside of the shaft with tubing and lock into place with heatshrink or
2.ACC glue bushings to outside of shaft or
3 Any other ideas from HF members ?
These ridges will be 1" inboard from each end and rigged to amsteel suspension in the same method as my fulltime hammock. After observing the adjustable loops channel cord on my hammock I believe fixed loops will suffice and be simpler to make.
streamline, wish I had your ability to illustrate.

Could you use arrow ends, name escapes me now that is notched for the drawstring. Iron wire would fit nicely in there and there is a curve.
The ends are nocks and are a plastic and I'm not sure about trusting my 200+ to them. That does remind me that the broadheads thread into aluminum inserts. If eyescrews could be found with matching threads it wpould be a possibility. Thanks for the input.

Ditto, streamline. Very elegant illustration.
Olddog: Instead of heatshrink (whick might be too thin to make a ridge that'll stop the amsteel from sliding) maybe you could add wire ties pulled real tight and cut off flush at the lock. Or, a low tech idea would be a rubber band wrapped around tight. That would give sufficient bulk to keep the amsteel from sliding and it's grippy as well.

Surely, God could have made a better way to sleep.
Surely, God never did.
I was thinking tie a turks head around the bar and then epoxy it in place, that would probably hold and if you use clear epoxy it will look good too.
Good luck,

I've tried, and failed, to find hammock love with a GTUL, so it seemed like a good candidate for this mod.
I used pvc as a toggle.
A continuous loop through the channel end, with a girth hitch on each end of the loop.
Is it love? Too early to say, but there will be a second date...it is much improved, but still a small hammock. These eleven footers may have ruined me. I'll try it overnight, and report back.

Thanks for the ideas everyone. The Turks Head would look nice. Been 40 years, back in my navy days, since I've done one.
Just finished laundering the hammock and while apart reworked the channel loops to simple double locked loops with no adjustability.
