Silly me thought this was going to a deck project with a hammock and a mini-bar for cocktails!

This looks cool. It certainly has given me some ideas for a project for my deck which I am sure my wife will enjoy as well.

The weather is starting to cool down. Hoping to get around to trying this out soon.

    Question.
Does this eliminate the need for a foot box or would it enhance a food box?

I'm the lucky friend--- it's super comfy footbox would be a preference, it is relatively narrow, so it wouldn't hurt to have one, it's rad as is though and I have no intentions to tweak it.

Haven't really posted on the site, but I must say that this mod really did make a noticeable difference on my 10'x4.5' hammock. I originally built it with a "W" gathered whipped end. The sweet spot was rather small and unforgiving and there was a pronounced calf ridge, regardless of how many attempts I made to adjust the gather. I sewed end channels on my hammock and made/attached my MSB's identical to Alrany's. After several nights in the woods, I can say they'll be a permanent fixture on my rig. The sweet spot is much bigger and more forgiving, and the calf ridge is no longer a problem. The only downside (apart from the minimal weight gain) is that it doesn't pack away quite as neatly in my bishop bag.

Anyway, thanks to all who have experimented with this concept.

My version is simply a aluminium rod (170mm x 8) placed through the channel end of a 9 ft double layer . I flapped over a small amount to stop th edge flapping and tied it off. Sniper tape is wrapped around the alu to stop any slippage.

I was concerned about failure but its proven itself on around ten hangs, rock solid and very comfortable.

Red I want to thank you and all the other contributors to this Thread it was only by reading it yes all 500 plus post that I figured out what was going on with my hammock suspension. It all had to do with the way I was using my continuous loops through my end channels. I was putting my loop through the end channel and then one side of the loop through the other and then connection the ring and whoopie to the remaining loop. By taking the loops coming out of both ends of the channel and putting them in a carabiner this distributed the load across the entire hammock not just down one side. Now that I have gotten rid of the ridging problem I don't feel the need for a MSB on the foot end of my hammock. I still plan on making a bigger continuous loop for the head end of my hammock(either OldGringo size rings or big enough to jam my ti cook pot in) to provide more room at my shoulders. I will let you know how it turns out,
