Sort of, I was thinking of putting the whoopie in the channel as you normally would then have a pvc piece with two holes drilled in it and run it though one hole into the channel and out the other and then pull the adjustable end and what not though the fixed end. Make sense? Sorry I know the paint drawing is really bad lol

Jeremy, I have always felt that the benefit of the whoopie sling was in its adjustability. Not to say your idea won't work, I just can't see the benefit of it. I hope it does and that you will share that success with us.

Shane, I did this to see if it could be done. It does involves locking the cord, burying it, locking the cord again and burying it again. I found it was easiest to join the two lengths first, then make the adjustable loop and then finish the 2 fixed loops for the spreader bar. Let me know if you want more details on this project.

It wont affect its adjustability. My idea is very similar to yours but in but instead if wrapping it around the pole there will be holes drilled in it and you feed the fixed eye through each end and then feed the rest of the whoopie thought the fixed end making sort of a larks head. Does that make more sense?

No, that's not how I do it. I have 2 separate amsteel cords going through 2 separate holes 5" apart. At the end of each cord is a fixed loop. The cord goes through the hole and then loops around the spreader bar at the opposite end. I prefer doing it with a much shorter harness, but did one with the whoopie sling because I was intrigued by your challenge of whether it could be done with a whoopie sling.

I have been playing with these for a month or so; here is what I found.
My shortest hammock (8'-6") has the spreaders @ 6" and it works great.
My ENO Double Nest has them @ 4" and is much better; the ENO is 9'-6".
I ended up using 7/16" fiberglass tubing; I originally bought it for tent pole repairs. I used a coupler (the metal part) as a way to adjust the length of the spreader without needing to cut a whole new one each time; this way I could just do one end.

I will make a solid spreader now that I have the lengths I want.
I used the newhanger method and attached my whoopie slings via girth hitch.
I have no idea how much they weigh...

    The mini-spreader.

    Loaded.

    The end loops.

I like 'em, they work great.

Thats almost what im talking about. Put the fixed eye through the other hole as well then feed the rest of whoopie though fixed eye. The fixed eye should run though both holes. Like this, so you run it though one hole, though the channel, though the other hole and then larks head, does not affect adjust ability at all. Now do you see lol? Sorry if I was confusing you. You think this will work?
