One note on the noise. I used a space blanket with my old hennessy under cover system. After multiple uses the mylar gets crinkled and the noise mostly goes away.

I suppose being layed between other materials would help with the noise factor as well. I think I'll try it out. I'm thinking of layering it like this hammock-insultex-space blanket-poncho. I probably won't permanently attaching anything, perhaps velcro or something to clip it all to the ponchos shock cord. I get the insultex next week. I'll post some pics when I come up with something.

That particular trip I wore a straw hat, which doesn't do much for the rain. I prefer the umbrella when it's to humid for jacket/poncho.

I'm going to necro this thread.

I just made one of these, using 1/8" shock cord on the long sides and #18 mason line on the short ends.

Going to go take some photos once I figure out how to connect this to a HH hyperlight using stock cordage.

Just one quick question, for the short ends (head and foot), what type of knot/cord lock/etc worked well, or any experiments with what didn't work well?

Thumbs up on the hat quip!

I think this may make some changes to my summer set up. I live in the south so I have also been try to decide on an ultra light top cover when the low is 75. Just don't like having nothing and a cotton sheet is actually heavy.

This certainly gave me some ideas to investigate.

I like the double cordlock because it can cinch up the foot/head shock cord along with the side shock cord. I then like the shock cord that runs along the side to be connected using a double fisher man. I then connect it to one of dutch's quilt hangers.
