    Exclamation Tarp Help!!!

I am looking out my window at a storm with really heavy rains, and I am relizing my need for a new tarp. I currently use a DryFly and as much as I like it, I am slowly coming to my senses that it just isnt going to work in rain like this. So, being on my "payday" of a $10-per-week-allowance budget, I need something cheap and fast. Currently, Im looking at the Guide gear 11 tarps. I know I need to seam seal these, but thats not a problem. Do you think this batch of guide gears is worth getting rid of my DryFly for?

Well, I wouldn't get rid of your DryFly, it's still a good tarp for light-moderate precipitation, but if you're asking whether the GG 11x11 will give you more protection, I would say yes. Not as good in quality as others, but good enough after seam sealing. I use the 12x12 myself on intense storms and haven't had a problem at all.

Can't say enough about Chinook tarps.

    Cheap with great coverage.

The 12 x 9.6 is a great "no doors" tarp for your buck.

    The 12 x 14 is a great "4 season" tarp.

I like those chinooks... have you had any problems with grommets getting torn out?

My first cheap tarp was a hennessy hex tarp. Not a bad tarp for the price.

+1 on the Hennessy. Has kept me dry in torrential downpours. Despite the last two years being dry here in FL, when it has rained while I was out, it has poured.

Not the lightest tarp ever, but definitely a good price for the coverage. Make sure you don't aim the foot or head end into the prevailing winds, though. (Or, if you do, make sure you have a poncho or dedicated Grizz Beak to close that end off.)

    Hope it helps!

I used Grip Clips on the ridgeline.

The bottom tieouts are webbing so they don't need it.
