I cannot seem to ever get the correct angle for my hang. For some reason, I am always sliding toward my feet. My solution has been to purchase a line level from Home Depot and hang it on my hammock ridgeline. I know it sounds silly, but it allows me to get it level before getting in and then making the final adjustment. Then the level goes back into the patch kit. Anyone else do this or are you all getting it right every time?

It's an evolving thing. But the common thought is to get your foot end just a wee bit higher than your head end.

Hang your foot end higher. I actually go a bit over a foot higher on the foot end.
Sometimes, I still mess it up.
Particularly on uneven ground, it is sometimes difficult for your eye to get things right. I always jump in my hammock for a minute after setting it up to make sure I've got it right. 9 out of 10 times, it's fine. I've been at this a while, so it tends to be second nature. Still, I'm not perfect.
Agree with Raul about the foot being slightly higher than the head.

Just got back from a 9 day trip and hung mine a bit level or foot low and slid down.....It happens. Coulda fixed it but was sleepy and tired and snoozed on in the pines.

I used a level till.I got a the "hang" of it. Just to see where I was.
This is one of the reasons I was excited to see the new UL BMBH the Jacks just released. I was pretty good at getting my gathered end hammocks set up right. The bridge seems even easier to be level and have a perfectly flat lay.
Like Shug, I get lazy once in the hammock. If it's not set right, I just deal with until the morning.

I agree on this one .... When I first start getting out I have to make a ton of adjustments but, by the time winter comes I always have the hang of it ...! then ... I forget again over the winter ... lol. It's just takes practice.Originally Posted by dragon360

I was actually thinking about doing the same thing. I hang my foot end about 4" higher and don't have any problems sliding.
