I was just minding my own business and...

Has this ever happened to you? I just got in and was just about to start tweaking my new UQ when BAM!!!! and I'm on the ground.

No signs of picks or tears, I had just given it a look over. Soft cotton shorts with no pockets.

3 years old. Just a baby!

Going to get some ibuprofen and some tissue.

PS The cat (looking a little like roadkill) was drawn to the sound of the disaster.

No, but the way the fabric ripped it left a "pull" in the material that sure looks like one.

You were closer to right. Not certain, but I think this was the hammock that failed, after 5000 hours, not nights. So about 600 or 700 nights.

Coloration of that tag on the edge suggests "Speer" to me. Edges look like they're lined with velcro, wasn't that one of the Speer things, used to attach the bugnet and also the SnugFit?

And I too am sorry about that fall, the bumps from which will pass, but the loss of a hammock, and such a venerable one too...pity.
