    Addicted from Alabama

Hello from central Alabama. Well after weeks of research from all of your great knowledge, I have decided to post. I first want to say I had to watch Shug's videos more than once so I could retain what he was showing. Not because it was confusing but because I was laughing so dadgum hard. He's a riot! Anyways, here's my completely diy rig. I was on a tight budget and I'm a diy'er with most everything.

Hammock: diy 1.1 Ripstop gathered end with srl
Tarp: diy 1.1 Ripstop Blackcat hex, water proofed with guyline storage pockets
Bugnet: diy Tulle, velcro sides with drawstring bottom
UQ: none yet, but want down
TQ: bed sheet and diy fleece blanket for Alabama summer
: not sure yet for winter, probably down
Suspension: diy 1" webbing tree straps 15' in length, 8' Whoopie slings with Marlin Spike Hitch

    $60 spent.

The Whoopie slings are the only thing I didn't put together myself. The best $20 I ever spent! Thank you Whoopie for making life easy. The hammock is a little short at 9' with an 86" srl, but being 6' I can still lay flat and sleep on my sides. The tarp was fun but had some trouble hemming the cat cuts. But it looks good from the trail, haha! Thank you Blackbishop351 for the great tutorial! Tarp suspension is cheap cordage with figure 9's. And I added the guyline pockets for storage. I put velcro on the sides of the bug net so it can be removed easily when i just want to relax during the day. Not sure yet how much it all weighs but it's light!

I'd like to post pics but not sure really how to start a gallery. And I'd like to have a trail journal. Any help with both of those would be awesome.

Anyways, sorry this is so long. But a huge thank you to everybody here for being so kind to share your valuable knowledge for making it easy for a noob to start hanging. This is going to be a fun journey

Ahh thanks bigbama for the invite, but we are goin' to be in the Sipsey that weekend! A group hang sounds fun though, then I can see what sweet bells and whistles i can add to my rig. Calera/Alabaster area btw.
