    Hybrid Quilt/Sleeping Bag - Hybrid Synthetic/Down

Just finished a hybrid sleeping bag for a friend so I thought I'd share it with you guys. (I of course got all the materials from DIY Gear Supply - for free, shh, don't tell the owner...)

This is for my friend who likes a sleeping bag rather than a quilt, and wanted it to work well for general car camping, tent camping, and hammock camping. I told him I'd work something out and surprise him with it. You guys get to see it first.

    Requirements:
    - Very wide, lots of room for sprawling, no foot taper.
    - Zippered, full sleeping bag design, not a top quilt.
    - Work well with sleeping pad or hammock.
    - 3 season insulation.

    Design:
    - Two piece construction connected by a full length continuous zipper (runs from left top, around the bottom, and up to right top) with 4 sliders, one either side at top to unzip like regular sleeping bag, two together at foot end (or anywhere, really) to open up for extra breathing as desired.

    - Bottom is 70d Ripstop Nylon with 3.3oz Climashield insulation. Sized to match his (and any standard) sleeping pad, with slipsheet sections at each end to affix to pad to keep it in place. (So roughly 22"x74")

    - Top is 30d Ripstop Nylon filled with 11oz 850fp down, Karo Step design. (Roughly 50" wide, the whole way down, longer than bottom to serve as an upper hood if desired).

    - Because of the full zipper design, the bottom synthetic portion can be rolled up and stuffed into it's own lower pad-slip-sheet to keep out of the way and now it's a top quilt for hammock use. Or, alternately, rolled to the top and stuffed in the upper pad-slip-sheet and used as the pillow for the top quilt.

Total weight is 2lb, 5oz. Heavy for what I would want, light for what he wanted (a savings of approx. 3lbs over his other bag).

    Looks terrific.
(And had me immediately visit to look for the Climashield. Is it in the "Owner's Reserve" section?)
Great, though, to notice your shop as a source for down.

Yeah, sorry - the Climashield is owner reserve. Primaloft will be publicly available once the order goes through though.

You could probably shave some more weight by leaving the headboard at home.

Seriously, that is one awesome bag! Love the width!
