Awesome piece of kit: Your backpack is your hammock!

    Your pack BECOMES your hammock!

Saw this and thought it was pretty cool. What do ya'll think?

I like Dutch's solution better. It's self contained.
I may be slow... But I sure am gimpy.

Wouldn't be bad for a bOb but in most scenarios at least some urban transit will be involved and camo is just not the best choice there....so I'll keep an eye pealed for a khaki color option that will work in more environments.

Now years ago Cedar Tree if I'm not mistaken showed up at a shelter I was at in the Smokies wearing a 'gear skin' type backpack that was also a hammock.

I like gear that is multipurpose. But when a piece of gear tries to be too many things at ounce it usually ends up not doing anything well.

"It's the most usable 4.5 lbs. of rucksack you'll ever own."

    Pass

That thing weighs more than half my base weight Definitely not for the ultralight backpacker.

I'm not sure I'd like it as a hammock, either. It's more like a cot bed you have to lash your own supports for.

You can use it as a ghilli suit...ok great but now where do you put your gear that your just took out to put on your ghilli.

And believe I know from first hand experience that being able to move quickly and quietly as a sniper is paramount.

Nice concept, and I could go on and continue to expose its fallacies, but I am sure we all get the point.

Some gera just needs to serve one maybe two purposes and thats it.
I miss my 4.8Lb base weight as a ground dweller...But I sure DON'T MISS the ground.

Sue me, I never saw dutchs' version. And yes i know there are problems with it. I just thought it was kinda cool. As for weight I am not as worried about being ultralight. I like stuff I can abuse and it wont break. So dutch? Can I get a Multicam version of your pack???
