Hennessey Rain mod?

Hi, am newish to this site. I do alot of reading. Are there any mods that I can do to my factory suspension line to help with rain? I was thinking of cutting the main line closr to the hammock end and installing a climbing ring on either side of the cut then conecting with caribener. What do you think? I have read drip lines dont really work. I really dont like the idea of adding more weight but... Thanks for your insight. Jason

Drips lines have worked for me. I use a whoopie sling suspension and simply loop the line back over itself - ensuring this loop is under the tarp, and have not had an issue.

I you have the snakeskins then you have not hot worry about. They cover from the tree huggers to the rain fly and I have never had a drip.

I switched to whoopie-slings, but prior to that, I just took a 6" chunk of mason's twine and tied a dangling string on either suspension line, about an inch before the body of the hammock. Instant drip-line.

Agreed with BlackTalon - The snakeskins seem to do a great job dealing with water and preventing it from draining down the lines.

Took the HH on first camp. It was the best sleep I have ever had camping. I don't thing ill go back to ground dwelling, cept for family camping. Even then I might sneek out in the night to hang. As far as the rain mod, none was necessary. It rained verrry heavy several times. Not even wet. Drip strings made of t-shirt worked. Thanks all.

I always wonder about folks who claim drip lines do not work. It's really complicated to tie a piece of string to an existing rope. Most of us make it happen. Some do not. The most vocal are always the "do nots".

If you do cut the line and tie in climbing rings then why add biners to the weight? Larkshead in a set of whoopie slings or go to straps. There are a lot of options. ;-)
