    permethrin deterioration?

I know I know, theres alot of threads right now about various things about permethrin now that we are entering bug season but I have a question of my own... Does permethrin eat away at any fabrics? or is it safe to apply to anything

I think it's generally safe on anything...there are no proscriptions on the labels.

That's good to know, as I'll be mixing some up in the hot tub, dumping all of my stuff in it and then jumping in myself I should be real safe this summer! If my skin stays attached....the boy and his stuff will soon follow

Um, I hope you're joking about bathing in it. At the 0.5% mixture it's more or less safe and completely so once dry. Just keep in mind that it is a neurotoxin and is absorbed in its liquid state.

...of course. I'm a jokester and I'd better slow down before I get scolded by a mom...I mean a mod Sometimes I see an opening and I just can't help myself.

Okay, just wanted to make sure. Although after doing some more reading it probably wouldn't hurt as 5% permethrin is used to kill lice and such but that is a smaller surface area.

Haven't had any problems with it on nylon, nylon/spandex blends, polyester, cotton/poly blends, or cotton over the last year of using it semi-regularly.

At least, my hammock hasn't give out on me yet! I'd figure that'd be the first thing to go, considering the force loading applied to the fibers.

    Hope it helps!
