    First Hammock Backpacking Trip

Well, I'm back from my 4 day backpacking trip - first time in a hammock. What did I learn? Nothing, except that I sleep a solid 9 hours like a baby! I'll need to set an alarm next time as to not waste daylight. The only problem was forgetting my spork so I used a v-stake, no worries.

I love it! 100% perfect hang every night. No issues that I seemed to have when testing in my back yard. Who knows. Great weather - not a drop of rain but I put the tarp up two of the nights to block some sun. Can't wait to get back out!

It's not the boulders that throw us off balance, it's the pebbles beneath our feet

And now you know why so many of us never 'go back' to tenting!
Lovely pictures, glad to hear your first time out was so awesome.

Definitely! I could see myself using the hammock 100% of the time. But with all my tent gear pretty much focused on winter temps, I hate to get rid of it or not use it anymore...a lot of nice new gear. We'll see, I'm considering a 0° UQ more each day!

That's kind of where I'm at too. I really enjoy my hammock especially in warmer weather but I have so much tied up in tents, cold weather bags, etc. it's hard to give it up altogether. The hammocks is definitely much better suited to a few places I like to camp so I guess we'll see. Plus my wife isn't sold on the hammock idea... yet.

Yep, in the same boat with the tent stuff...and camper stuff; but for me it's my husband who isn't sold on the hammock camping yet. Even if he wants to keep the camper, I'll be stringing up my hammock to sleep. It just sleeps better than anything else out there. The tents can go. They're huge multi room PITA things.

Glad your first trip was a total success!! You did absolutely great and I love the pictures....just made me want more
