    Hello from Victoria!

    Hello Jo,

Welcome to the best forum on the internet! I'm in Victoria on Vancouver Island and you're quite right...it rains a lot on the west coast. Windy as well!

I'm new to hammock camping myself but everything about it seems so right - not the least of which is a good night's sleep.

Have fun on HF. There is lots to learn and a lot of very nice people to help you along the way.

    Cheers,

Just going over my first introductory post, as I've taken a few libertys for the sake of entertainment or whatever. I think its around 9km (according to others) to the lake, and I'm not sure if a meter and a half is 6 feet. Although I think I had a yoga mat to sleep on (not the best insulation, believe me!), also not sure about the chipmunks, but those grey jays always seem to be there! Bah sorry for the lies, but speaking of which ieye360 I tell you the photos I have of that trip seem sureal. I'll make an effort to do some rail reports as I get more established within the forum. Thanks again everyone for the warm welcome.

    Welcome from Vancouver Island

    Hello Jo,

Welcome to HF from Victoria on Vancouver Island! Hammock camping is very nice indeed, and the people on the forums are most helpful!

I'm 6'2" and find that I have plenty of room in my Blackbird. However wind is a problem so I'll be investing in a set of doors for my tarp to help block the wind.

I'm mostly an urban hanger but find that a nap or sleeping my hammock is ridiculously addictive.
