Looking like y'all are gonna have some nice hot temps to contend with. I can't come, unfortunately, work, moving, and wedding/honeymoon planning are keeping me busy. However, might I humbly suggest a quick caravan up the road to Sliding Rock? Y'all have a great time, Dancer and I hope to catch you at a hang somewhere soon!

I'm drawn to the open country. Its where the world makes the most sense. When I put myself out there I always return with something new.

Well, I was off on my weather. Dunno what I was thinking. Dang, looks like temps are downright agreeable for a hang. Y'all enjoy!

Also what section of the CRT were you hiking It rarely ventures far away from the river from Ellicott's to South of hwy 28. In Ga it does get way some as it follow the Bartram trail but I believe it hooks back up once it splits off from there. I haven't done the first (if heading north) 10 miles from HWY 76 bridge but I have done the rest and the first 10 mile section south of HWY 28 as you enter GA is the only part Ive seen that leave the river for a significant time.

We started just below Round Top where the CRT and FHT merge/split and got out at Sandy Ford. I think I saw the river 4 times including Earls and Sandy Ford. Not like the section north of there where the trail is right alongside the river the majority of the time.

70s and 60s? That's awesome! I think I would definitely prefer that to the lower 100s we experienced two weeks ago!!!

Thumbs up John's Rock 3 rd Annual Hang

After reading about this for weeks now, I'm signing up now and looking forward to this weekend, especially the cooler weather up there that is forecast. Should be a lot of fun and will be good to see some of the other folks from the Chattooga Trail Ellicot Rock hangs. I'll put my name on the spreadsheet maybe tomorrow or Thursday night. Looking forward to getting out again and making some new friends.

How far in is the hike, and do we have coolers or something? I'm trying to figure out the logistics behind the food item I might bring to contribute to the group dinner.

It's roughly about a mile in to the hang area.
I went and did my shopping yesterday, and bought a soft side cooler with a strap so it should be fairly easy to tote up. Of 'course it being full of various "beverages" and delicious hors d'oeuvres, it'll be a bit heavy, but once in camp, will be worth it.

RF and I, in keeping with tradition, will be heading up tomorrow morning sometime. Anyone that can bust away early is more than welcome to join us.

I'm looking forward to those New York strips he picked up for us and we're gonna throw 'em on a grill over the fire. I'm bringing a a tin foil dinner of green peppers, onions, carrots, garlic & potatoes to throw on the coals. Not bad for the first night.YEAH MAN!!!

Is it time to go yet????!!!!
