    Splicing zing-it

What do you use to splice zing-it? I'm in the middle of building myself a new hammock suspension and need to make some zing-it continuous loops for prusicks(sp?) and can't think of anything small enough that will work. Right now I'm using a wire for amsteel that I tape the one end onto that I'm pulling through but I don't think that will work for the tiny zing-it.

Will I need to buy some kind of splicing tools? And if so what should I look for?

I have used very thin stainless steel leader line from Bass Pro with great luck.

If you can't find a Bass Pro shop, try a Hobby Lobby or similar crafting store OR Model airplane store like HobbyTown for fine music wire . Buy a piece, bend it in half with a pair of pliers and fish that through your Zingit. It comes in very thin sizes for CL leadouts or bead work.

If you have a bike shop nearby you can get a shifter/brake cable. It is many strands of wire twisted to make the cable. You can unwind and use 1 strand.

If you have a guitar shop nearby you can use a high E string.

You can use florist wire as well (garden shop), which exists also in 0.01''

"Door bell wire" you can pick it up at any hardware store off a spool, get two feet, strip it down, and your good to go. Think I spent 35 cents for mine and I've only used one of the wires so far.

I've always used .022" stainless steel fishing leader wire. Anything similar will work. Take a piece about 2' long fold it in half, crimp the folded end tight enough to hold the line, and tape the two loose ends together. Works well.

My wife makes jewelry as a side interest. I use some of her wire to splice both the amsteel and the zing it.

Use small diameter wire as everyone has stated.

Instead of taping the zing-it/amsteel/etc. to the wire, fold the wire in half, feed this through the zing-it, insert the end to be buried into the "eye" of the folded wire and pull it back through. It helps if you taper the zing-it/amsteel before trying to pull it through (note...the cord is not tapered in the linked photos)

I use floral wire. I want to say it was about $1 for 100 ft at Menards. This is what my stuff looks like.
