1st Overnight - Crane Mountain

My buddy and I set out after work, on Friday, to hike up Crane Mountain, outside of Warrensburg, NY.

We soon found out within the first 15 minutes this was a decent little climb.




We made it to Crane Mountain Pond with enough time to set up before dark.

Here is my DIY Speer Hammock, DIY Speer Tarp, AHE Jarbidge, and my Lafuma Warn'n Light 800


(I closed the tarp ends before bed to keep some of the wind out. It got down to the 30's and I only noticed when I woke up in the middle of the night to find out my butt was on the ground due to my straps stretching! )

This trip was rather fun and has taught me a bunch!

Looks like you had a good trip. I like the picture of the lake with the reflection of the clouds on the water.

I never have seen a ladder on a trail. I wouldn't have guessed they ever built one for that purpose. Our trails just go around or they carve it through the rocks. There must not be much horse traffic on that trail. It would take a well trained horse to climb the ladder.

i wish there were more ladders they were quite fun!!!

The DIY gave me a big smile when I didn't land on my rear the first time I got in my gear. Out of all the DIY I think I liked making all the lines the best (whoopies, guy lines, ASRL, and TRL)

Hopefully I'll find some more ladders and summits this summer to share..

Crane is a great mountain with the pond on the side of it and all.

There's a few more ladders in the High Peaks waiting for you.
