Here is a pic. I held a light up behind it and it has small grey feathers in it... So might be feathers too. Going to open it up in a few
Do report back on this project... I am hoping to do something similar
will do! I was so surprised to see down in there. There wasnt a tag on it showing what it was made of so the girl behind the register was like o well. SKORE! lol... Only down one in there! Not sure what i want to do but i have more than enough down to do 2 or 3 uq or tq...
I too was thinking of DIYing an underquilt. I just finished making whoopie slings and a bug net and plan on hanging a night on the AT this weekend. It's supposed to be warm so I figured I could make due with my ground sleeping pad partially deflated on my bottom side. Time to start trolling the goodwill store.
Uhhhh. Make sure its free of bed bugs.... This went straight in the dryer for 30 minutes. I didn't see any but wasn't taking chances.
You my friend are VERY LUCKY!!! I have been tearing up the local thrift stores here for months and have yet to get lucky. After seeing your success though I have the motivation to keep up the hunt!!!
If you have an Ikea near, they run sales on their light weight down throws and blankets. I think I bought a new throw that was pretty large for around 18.00. Just something to keep an eye on. I am not sure if there would be enough in the really light weight one for an underquilt, but you could figure that out.
No luck at goodwill, so would this do? I'm motorcycle camping so not too weight worried:

I just don't want to waste time/money making mistakes.
Thanks in advance!
