Lightbulb Line Locker! Possible Suspension Ade?

As I said in my Introduction post; I am a Rock Climber. A shoot off sport of rock climbing is Slacklining. Slacklining is basically tightrope walking with a twist, that being you jump, flip and bounce. If you watched the Super Bowl XLVI between the New York Giants Vs the New England Patriots halftime show with Madonna. The guy that was Jumpping on the rope (actually webbing), well that is slacklining.

On to my point. I think this would be a viable option. It can be used to tie into the tree huggers (also used in slacklining) to straight cordage, whoopie sling, and hugger to webbing.

Here is a video to better help you to visualize what I am talking about. You can also search YouTube for slacklining to see set-ups and see it in action.

So, What do you think. Will it work?

So, if you want to make your tree huger length adjustable and carry a little more hardware you can use this system. I'll have to remember how to do this just in case.

The way I would set up my rig there would be no need for extra gear. I would make my tree hugger with one 1/2 twisted loop in on the end. I would wrap it around the tree and feed the tag end through the cup-side of the loop and tighten on the tree. I would have the rap ring on my whoopie sling with a pin tethered to it. Build the Line Locker insert the pin. Repeat on the other end and adjust my slings.

You loose the need for knots or any hitches in the webbing (which reduces the brake strength). Granted a hammock fully rigged and occupant will not exceed a fraction of the B/S. You can just tie a straight cord rigged hammock to the rap ring. You can also use this for webbing rigged hammock, just lay one on top of the other and build the line locker as normal.

Ok, I think I get what your saying, but if you used the chain lengths with this it would capsize right? so you would want to use rings?

And in your set up is the locker carrying the load then?

This set up is just replacing the two ring sinch method and marlin spike. The chain link for setting up a slackline. I will have the rap ring on the adjustable loop of my whoopie sling, set up the locker and make adjustments to whoopies.

Yes, it will carry the any load you can throw at it.

Ooooooo ok. So you have the locker AND a ring on the end.
Now I get it. Sorry, sometimes I'm a little slow.

You know, you could probably run a continuous piece of webbing between the trees then use a set of ring and lockers to make a one piece adjustable ridge-line and tree strap and everything....
