Want to know if any of you had tried these? I am planning on getting these to use for reading and the likes while out on the trail, and also to add some ambiance to my backpacking journey!!!

I have a set. I got them more for a gimick than for acutal backcountry use. That being said, they are suprisingly bright and light up your hammock very nicely. I have used them more than I thought that I would...mostly because I have them. I don't think they are bright enough to read by, but they do add a little something to your setup!
Target has similar lights around Christmas time for around half the price. I think they are 20 LED lights and come in multiple color choices. I have a set in clear and a set in blue. They are pretty bright being LEDs.

Mosquitos find me soon enough with an extra draw, so for summer I don't think so.
My brother-in-law owns a set. He accidently left them turned on when he packed them away, and when he took them out a month later they were still shining Then he accidently did the same thing again (it's hard to see that the lights are on in the bright sunlight) and a week later they were still on. So I can attest that the battery life is good Of course when he eventually changed the batteries you could tell that the lights were much brighter.
Mustardman brought a set of these to one of the Colorado Hangs; pretty neato and do make for a festive atmosphere.
Can't see myself backpacking with them, but for an overnight or car camping trip, they would be fun.
Trust nobody!
I have a set of these, my use for them was so my kids could find the hammocks in the night, then turn them off before bed! Worked very well at this past PGF Mahha, well at least the kids thought so.
For backpacking I just use my headlamp, multiple brightness settings for multiple purposes.

I want a set of all blue ones, from a distance it can look like a UFO.

Thanks guys for all the input! I am not worried about packing these boys in seeing as this will be my only luxury( besides my little flask of Whiskey!!).
I have a set. they're fun. I use them for the festive atmosphere and for finding the hammock in the dark, but agree that they're not quite bright enough to read by. put my headlamp on dim and hang it around my neck to read.
I don't bother with these unless I'm out on some kind of social event. a group hang/camping trip with a number of folks. not when backpacking, either.
