Is there a way to subscribe to a member's posts? I know how to manually check for posts by a member , but it would be easier if they came in automatically.

I dont know if you can subscribe to a members post but you can subscribe to a thread and receive notification of thread post. But I dont know how or if their is a feature to subscribe to a specific members post and receive notification when they post. To subscribe to a thread go under thread tools and hit subscribe to thread.
